Gregory S. Ferguson
The Honorable Greg Ferguson was born and raised on a small farm in rural Indiana. He joined the United States Marines Corps upon graduation from Nashville Auto Diesel College and retired after 26 years service in Yuma. When he retired, MGySgt Ferguson was the Aircraft Maintenance Chief for Marine Corps Air Station Yuma. His career in the Marines included several tours overseas in Japan, Okinawa and Vietnam. Yuma has been home to Mr. Ferguson and his family since relocating here in 1976.

Upon retirement from the Marines, Mr. Ferguson used his GI Bill benefits to earn degrees in Environmental Science from both Arizona Western College and Northern Arizona University, Yuma. His experiences in the environmental field include two years as an environmental lab technician at the Yuma Proving Ground and three years as the Community Liaison for the Arizona Department of Environmental Quality serving Yuma, LaPaz and Mohave Counties.

Mr. Ferguson was elected to the Yuma County Board of Supervisors in 2004 for a four year term. This is his second term on the Board, having been previously elected in a 1998 Special Election for two years. Community involvement includes service on the following boards:
  • 78-CRIME Board
  • Yuma County Airport Authority
  • Yuma Valley Rod and Gun Club
  • Trinity United Methodist Church
  • University of Arizona Agriculture Research Advisory Council (Yuma)
  • Greater Yuma Economic Development Corporation
  • Yuma County Board of Health
  • Yuma Convention & Visitors’ Bureau.
