Yuma County Public Health Services District

Yuma County Community Health Assessment 2012

This assessment was conducted by the Health Department who brought together community health leaders, providers and local residents to research and prioritize health needs of the Yuma County community. This assessment is ongoing and is scheduled to be reviewed again in 2016.

Yuma County Public Health Department Strategic Plan 2014-2018

This document outlines the Health Department’s internal improvement plan and includes strategies and progress benchmarks for meeting both Department and County-wide goals.

Restaurant Report Ratings

The Health Department conducts inspections of restaurants at least once a year. Inspectors check for compliance in food handling, food temperature, personal hygiene and vermin control. Each violation of a regulation receives a certain number of points. At the end of the inspection, the inspector totals the points, and gives the restaurant a rating. These ratings include: E for Excellent; S for Satisfactory; N for Needs Improvement and U for Unacceptable.

Nutrition, Physical Activity, and Obesity Program (NUPAO)

This site offers information on the Arizona State Health Department’s NUPAO program. This program was designed to decrease the obesity rate in Arizona by increasing education on exercise and nutrition, increasing access to healthy food and decreasing barriers.

Office of Vital Records

The Arizona State Health Department: Office of Vital Records maintains and issues certified copies of vital records including: birth, death, fetal death, and stillbirth certificates for events that occurred in Arizona.

Mental Health Checklist

This site provides recommended procedures for what to do when mental health is a concern for you or someone you know; and includes information on mental illness, resources, how and where to access behavioral and mental health services, and legal evaluation processes in Arizona.

Safe Kids Arizona

Safe Kids Arizona is a state-wide coalition that strives to create safer homes, communities and environments for children. The coalition provides detailed education and injury prevention strategies to decrease preventable injuries such as those from vehicle crashes, suffocation, and drowning.

Status on Healthy People 2020 Objectives

This site offers results on the progress Arizona has made toward achieving the Healthy People 2020 Objectives. The two overarching goals are to "increase quality and years of healthy life" and "eliminate health disparities," by addressing major health concerns such as obesity and access to health care.
